Hokkaido is the northernmost island of Japan and is home to more than 300 bird species, making it one of the more biodiverse islands in the Japanese archipelago. Hokkaido’s varied landscapes ranging from forests to mountains and wetlands combines to provide striking backdrops for bird photography. Furthermore, these diverse habitats provide fertile opportunities for birds and notable Hokkaido species include the graceful Red-crowned Crane as well as two of the largest species of birds in their respective families, the magnificent Steller’s Sea Eagle and powerful Blakinston’s Fish Owl. This Bird-Photo-Tour will provide a wonderful opportunity to photograph these three stunning species at very close range.
