The Solomon Islands consists of around 1,000 islands located in the South Pacific Ocean, east of New Guinea and northeast of Australia. It is a country with varied habitats from tropical rainforests to mangroves, and coastal areas to mountain ranges, and as such has almost 300 species of birds and on account of its geographical isolation includes a high degree of endemism: around 70 bird species. Bird-Photo-Tours ASIA’ Solomon Islands’ workshops will focus on obtaining close photographic encounters with many of its special birds including Kingfishers, White-eyes, Fantails, Myzomelas, Boobooks, Starlings, Fruit Doves, Imperial Pigeons, Megapodes as well as the most easterly Pitta on our planet, the Black-faced Pitta. In addition to photographing birds, the Solomon Islands also offers breathtaking landscapes, such as coastal views, misty mountains, and lush forests, enhancing the overall experience of being in nature whilst observing birds.
