Our four-month 2025 Melanesian bird photography tour took us across the extraordinary islands of Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Fiji, offering an unparalleled opportunity to document some of the world’s most spectacular and endemic bird species. Over this extensive journey, we explored a stunning variety of habitats, from misty highland forests and lowland rainforests to volcanic slopes, coastal wetlands, and lush tropical islands, capturing both the vibrant diversity of Melanesian birds as well as the breathtaking landscapes they inhabit. This report shares many of the photographic moments from a truly immersive expedition led by one of Asia and Oceania’s most experienced bird photographers.
